Angelina Jolie and Daughter Vivienne Shine at the Tony Awards

Angelina Jolie and her daughter Vivienne showcased their impeccable style on the red carpet at the 77th Tony Awards, where they demonstrated that fashion flair runs in the family.

The acclaimed actress, best known for her role in Girl, Interrupted, stunned in a strapless green velvet gown by Atelier Versace, complemented by a matching shrug. Beside her, 15-year-old Vivienne looked chic in a white collared shirt, teal-toned vest, pants, and a bow tie, adding a youthful yet sophisticated touch to the event held at the David H. Koch Theater in New York.

The mother-daughter duo attended the prestigious event to support the Broadway musical The Outsiders. Angelina served as a producer, while Vivienne took on the role of a producer’s assistant. The musical, adapted from the S.E. Hinton novel and the Francis Ford Coppola film, received 12 nominations at the ceremony, making it one of the evening’s most celebrated productions.

In an interview with Deadline prior to the event, Angelina shared insights into Vivienne’s passion for theatre, revealing that The Outsiders profoundly impacted her daughter. “Vivienne loves theatre, and this story resonated with her deeply. From the book to the film and the San Diego production, it’s been an incredible journey,” Angelina explained. “Seeing her engagement with the material and the production process over the past year has been a privilege.”

On the night of the Tonys, Angelina introduced a performance by The Outsiders cast, emphasizing the timeless relevance of its themes. “Society changes, but the experience of being an outsider is universal,” she remarked. “To any young person feeling on the outside, you are not wrong to see what is unfair. You are not wrong to wish to find your own path. As the cast raise their voices, I hope it inspires many of you watching to value yours.”

Their appearance at the Tonys came shortly after Vivienne’s name appeared as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for The Outsiders, sparking speculation that she had dropped “Jolie-Pitt” from her legal surname. This follows reports that another of Angelina and Brad Pitt’s children, Shiloh, also sought to remove Pitt from her surname upon turning 18.

Since filing for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016, Angelina has faced numerous legal battles over the custody of their children, as well as disputes regarding property and assets accumulated during their marriage. Despite these challenges, Angelina continues to maintain a strong public presence, supporting her children’s endeavors and participating actively in their lives.

The Tony Awards appearance highlighted not just their fashion sensibilities but also their shared love for the arts, underscoring a unique bond forged through mutual respect and collaborative effort in the theatre world.
